🌧️ Wet Roads Ahead? The first few minutes of rain can be the most slippery, when rainfall mixes with oil on the highway.
Rain changes everything on the road. Remember the basics when the pavement gets slick:
↔️ SLOW down. When the rain is pouring and the roads are wet, reduce your speed by 1/3 and increase your following distance. A couple extra seconds of reaction time can save lives.
🚫 Turn OFF cruise control. When hydroplaning causes a loss of traction, cruise control can spin the wheels and make it harder to recover.
💡 Turn ON your headlights when it's raining. Daytime running lights may not keep taillights illuminated. The extra lights aren’t just for seeing what’s ahead — they're also for other drivers to see your vehicle.
🌊 Watch for standing water. Puddles can hide deep water. Hit one at speed and you risk hydroplaning and losing control of the vehicle.
🛞 Steer smooth and brake easy. Hard braking and sharp turns are your enemies on slick roads. ... See MoreSee Less

Make the most of your breaks by getting a little exercise. A quick workout can make you more mentally alert, reducing physical stiffness and mental fatigue. Make physical activity a daily routine to unlock long term health benefits! ⛽🏋️
Try these simple exercises during your next stop:
👣 Step-Ups Use your truck's side step and alternate feet for 2–3 minutes. Maintain three points of contact for safety.
💥 Incline Push-Ups Use the edge of your lower bunk or your truck's side step for incline push-ups. Adjust the angle to make them easier or more challenging.
🦵 Bodyweight Squats Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and lower yourself like you're sitting in an invisible chair. Aim for 3 sets of 10–15 reps.
⏱️ Just a few minutes of movement can make a big difference after hours behind the wheel.

What are the best “healthy” snacks for the trucking lifestyle? 🚛
Roller dogs and gas station burritos can be tempting, but they can also be a risky choice when you're trying to stay healthy on the road. Eating (and snacking) well takes a little extra planning.
💪 Here are some driver-friendly options:
🍎 Apples, bananas, and berries — fresh or dehydrated
🥜 Nuts (and some types of trail mix) are great in moderation
🥕 Celery stalks and carrots — plain or dipped in ranch or hummus
🥩 Beef jerky is a convenient source of protein (though it's certainly not cheap!)
What healthy snacks do you keep in the truck? Share your favorites in the comments! 👇

Men's Mental Health Awareness Month is a good excuse to talk about a topic that’s all too easy to avoid. Of course, women are a vital part of the trucking industry — but let's be real — many men have a hard time admitting when they're struggling. Too much isolation and time away from home both take a real toll. You don’t have to push through in silence.
A few small habits can make a big difference out there:
🚛 Move your body. Even a 10-minute walk at a rest stop clears your head more than you'd think. Healthier food choices also help.
📱 Stay connected. Call to check in on friends and family members. You never know when your friend may need to hear a friendly voice as much as you do.
🧠 Know when to call a pro. There's no shame in reaching out to a mental health professional or help line. It's the same as calling a mechanic when something's off—you fix the problem before it gets worse.
